Driving My Car Around is… Weird: TRUCKLA UPDATE + CYBERTRUCK

Have you ever driven your car around, only to feel out of place and awkward? That’s how I feel every time I take my car for a spin after converting it into a pickup truck, or TRUCKLA as it is known. TRUCKLA’s design, inspired by the Tesla vehicle aesthetic, has made waves online, but driving it in real life is a whole different experience.

TRUCKLA first gained attention on YouTube when Simone Giertz, a popular YouTuber and inventor, shared a video of her Tesla Model 3 being turned into a pickup truck. The video went viral, garnering over 6 million views and inspiring car enthusiasts to create their own versions of TRUCKLA.

I was one of the many inspired by Simone’s creativity, and I set out to make my own version of TRUCKLA. The process was no easy feat, and it took several months of research, trial and error, and significant financial investment, but eventually, I was able to transform my Tesla Model S into a pickup truck.

The novelty of driving around in a uniquely designed truck has its perks, but it also has its downsides. While driving, it becomes evident that the car was not initially designed for such usage. The ride is bumpy, and the handling is less smooth than that of a traditional pickup truck. Additionally, the increased wind resistance from the added weight on the back of the car causes a notable decrease in the overall efficiency of the Tesla.

Despite these drawbacks, TRUCKLA has also garnered attention from Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who shared Simone’s video on Twitter and praised the innovation. But now, Tesla has come out with its own pickup truck, the Cybertruck, which, at first glance, looks like it has been inspired by TRUCKLA.

The Cybertruck’s design is, without a doubt, unique, with its angular lines and modern, futuristic aesthetic. However, unlike TRUCKLA, the Cybertruck was designed with its intended use in mind. The truck is touted as being bulletproof, equipped with autopilot features, and an impressive acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds.

As a TRUCKLA owner, I can appreciate the creativity that goes into transforming the look of a vehicle, but the Cybertruck presents an innovative vehicle designed for its intended use, with features beyond just its aesthetics.

While driving my car around in its new life as a pickup truck may be awkward at times, it’s certainly not as odd as driving around in a vehicle that looks like it belongs in a sci-fi film. I’ll stick to my TRUCKLA for now, but the Cybertruck is definitely an impressive step forward in the world of electric pickup trucks.
